Gorgeous Art Nouveau Chair w/ Inlay Detail & New Velvet Upholstery
This absolutely striking chair was made in the Edwardian era circa 1900, and features a beautiful art nouveau design with fine wood inlay throughout. Likely made in England, the craftsmanship of this chair is remarkable: from the open work back with curved slats, fabulous "swooped" arms, and of course, all that lovely wood inlay, it is a feast for the eyes. New upholstery in a lovely steely blue velvet compliments the warm toned mahogany and birch nicely. Multiple structural repairs made throughout the decades, though these are fortunately well done and quite hidden. The wood has been cleaned and oiled, and has a lovely aged patina. While the chair is now very sturdy, it is still 130 years old and delicately made, therefore it must be treated with care. Perfect for a reading corner, bedroom, or entryway. $795
