Wow! Here is a rare find indeed, a perfect example of the innovation of the mid century - a plexiglas lamp by Moss! Gerry Moss founded Moss Manufacturing Co in San Francisco in the 1930s, and as WWII began, his traditional metal materials were rationed. This lead him to look at alternate materials for his lamps, and he discovered the beauty and versatility of plexiglas. We believe this example is from the 1940s, and features a crossover design of art deco and modernism. Incorporated are bent rods of plexiglass, solid brass details, corrugated plexiglass, and the iconic built-in vase/planter which is common to many Moss lamp models. The original milk glass shade is topped with a fibreglass drum shade, in tones of cream, gold and black. Re-wired, and in excellent and immaculate condition. 29.5"H, shade is 13" in diameter, base is 8.5"W x 7"D, $595
