Unique Vintage Snapping Turtle Shell Lamp with Cast Iron Base

This large snapping turtle shell came to us mounted on a rather unflattering wood plaque, with a small light mounted behind it, with the intention of it being a wall sconce. We knew we could do better, and had the perfect 1930s cast iron lamp base to elevate it to the artistic level it deserved! We've purposely mounted the shell head-down so that the interested points at the end are highlighted by the dual bulbs behind. The base is brass gilded and features a beautiful floral art deco pattern, and the shell has been cleaned and lacquered to bring out its finer details. The light just highlights a slight tortoiseshell effect in the shell, and creates a lovely glow around the edges. This is quite a large shell for the species, and therefore harder to find.
