Rare and fabulous find, this petite sideboard/shelving unit (formerly vanity) was designed by Heywood Wakefield USA as part of their "Kohinoor" line, and produced in Canada by Vilas. Made entirely of solid birch, this early 1950s piece features arched and curved legs, chunky rounded drawer pulls, a tambour door, and of course the overall shape with one tapered end and one round end, is definitively atomic-era. Cleaned and cosmetically restored, with the top of the curved section refinished to match the original stain, this compact piece would make a great mini entertainment unit, or for use as storage/display/plant stand behind a sofa or under a window. Two glass shelves, three drawers, and one narrow cabinet with shelf behind the tambour door offer tons of storage and display options.
