Exquisite Black Banded Agate Victorian Era Mourning Necklace

This beautiful and hard to find necklace was originally made circa mid to late 1800s, and features a string of spherical black banded polished agate, finished with a bullseye black agate pendant encased in gold tone pinchbeck metal. Likely re-strung at some point in the past few decades, and possibly extended with the addition of smaller, solid black beads at the clasp. The pendant also likely had been originally intended to hold a photo on the back, as there is some space between the pinchbeck frame and the agate. One bead has some wear, but otherwise this necklace is in phenomenal antique condition. A rare find! 10.5" L, pendant: 2" L x 1.25" W, $795
