Fantastic & Totally Unique Mid Century Tall Dresser, Completely Refinished!
Wow! You simply don't see pieces like this everyday! This incredible dresser was made by Vic-Art of Victoriaville, Quebec, circa 1960s, and features both incredible design and superb build quality. Made with walnut and accented with Brazilian rosewood inlay and painted fire orange and chocolate copper enamel embellishments, this dresser also has an unusual leg design, which cradles and attaches to the dresser via brass hardware. The walnut chosen for this piece is gorgeous, and exhibits many of the best characteristics of the wood, including a lovely "flaming" pattern on many pieces. Quality built with dovetail joinery on the drawers, hardwood construction, and dust covers between each drawer, and a fascinating "quality check" stamp on the back which was signed off by the craftspeople involved in the building of this remarkable piece. Vic-Art was a prolific Canadian producer throughout the mid century, but this set appears to be a one-off or possibly one of a few, as there are no other examples to be found online or anywhere else. Exceptionally beautiful and a fantastic example of Canadian mid century design! Completely refinished, top to bottom.
