Ultra Rare Chair by Russell Spanner, Canadian Icon, Fully Restored!
A true example of Canadian design and innovation, this fabulous modernist chair was designed by Russell Spanner for his own line, Ruspan. Made circa 1950 in Ontario, this chair came in a number of variations, with and without arms. Spanner utilized bent ply combined with traditional finger and dowel joinery to create pieces that were both modern and well-built, and added a twist by leaving the joinery exposed as a feature. Made of birch wood, this particular chair has gorgeous grain patterns on the back rest, revealed after a complete refinishing. New webbing on the chair has been done as close to the original specifications as possible, resulting in a fully restored museum-quality piece. These chairs are extremely rare, and are recognized throughout Canada as a pinnacle of furniture design. 19"W x 20"D x 30"H at back, $1195
