Unusual Very Early Lotte Bostlund Lamp w/ Custom Burlap Shade

  • $795.00

This is a very unusual ceramic lamp by Danish-Canadian icon Lotte Bostlund. It does not match any of the known molds by the artist, nor does it have the characteristic brass stem band. It does, however, have the "Lotte Canada" signature impressed in the bottom; also noteworthy, the glaze and molded 3D pattern bear similarities to Bostlunds' earliest pottery pieces, which were often dishes and vases. As this lamp was made prior to the development of the infamous fibreglass and jute Lotte shades in the 1960s, we've paired it with a custom burlap shade which matches the cream and mushroom tones of the glaze nicely. This is a rare and unusual piece which would be treasured by any collector of Canadian mid century design. 29"H overall, shade is 13" in diameter at bottom, base only 17.5"H x 5" in diameter, $795
