Unusual and intriguing vintage safari-style chair by Ecuadorian designer, Angel Pazmino. This gorgeous leather and wood chair (made from either cumaru or ipe; Brazilian teak and walnut respectively), features a distinctive design using chunky geometric shapes accented by curvy sculpted arms. A Peace Corp initiative in the 1960s allowed Ecuadorian furniture makers and Scandinavian designers to join forces, and the result was iconic piece such as this by Pazmino. These chairs proved to be so popular that they were produced for decades following, with this chair being from later production as evidenced with the solid black leather, (earlier versions were brown, heavily tooled leather). This extremely comfortable chair is a rare find, and a beautiful example of South American mid century design. 24"W x 25"D x 30"H, $795
