Bizarre & Unusual Mid Century 3D Ceramic Fave Vase, Artfully Executed
This very unusual vase features a smiling face design, with open eyes so that the turquoise glaze can be glimpsed through them. The exterior of the vase is flat matte grey, while the inside is glossy turquoise. When viewing the vase from different angles, new sculpted designs appear to emerge, thanks to the 3D quality of the piece and the contrasting glaze colours. The bottom has an sgraffito pattern in cream, white, and turquoise, which adds interest and detail. This vase is signed on the bottom, but we could not identify the artist, other than finding a similar vase that was dated to the 1940s.
