This ultra rare dresser was made by iconic American designer Norman Bel Geddes, circa 1930. Bel Geddes was commissioned by Simmons Manufacturing (yes, the maker of the BeautyRest mattress!) to create a line of bedroom furniture. which soon became Simmons best selling line. Emanating work from the Bauhaus and De Stijl movements, he used enamelled steel for his creations with both curved and straight lines, essentially birthing a new style which would be described as "streamline", "art moderne," and "machine age".

This dresser retains its original black and silver enamel, with a few touch ups to the top surface and a clear coat overall. We've chosen to leave most of the signs of age as we feel this contributes to the history of this nearly 100-year-old piece. All parts have been thoroughly cleaned, and the drawers open smoothly. Perfect for use as intended in a bedroom, as a unique entertainment unit, or even in a kitchen for extra storage. A rare find and an important part of furniture design history. 44"W x 20"D (with handles) x 36"H, WAS $1495, NOW $895
