Hard to Find "Lotus" Chair by Paul Boulva for Artopex, 1976 Montreal Olympics

This unique chair is a fabulous example of Canadian furniture innovation, by Quebecois designer Paul Boulva for Artopex Canada. Known as the "Lotus" chair, it was originally made exclusively for the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. It was produced in many iterations and colour combos, but always the molded plastic shell and chrome legs were present. This particular example seems to be a rather rare combination of chocolate shell and tangerine orange vinyl cushions, and bears the Artopex stamp with "78" (presumably the year of production). While this chair has definitely seen some use, we've retouched the wear as much as possible and it is now a fine piece for a living room, bedroom, or wherever good design can be appreciated. This is the one and only "Lotus" chair we've ever had in 11 years, and it is indeed a special part of Canadian design history. $495
